Gemma Collins ‘wanted for Dancing with the Stars’

Gemma Collins is said to be wanted for an appearance on ‘Dancing with the Stars’.

The 39-year-old reality TV star is thought to have proved popular Stateside when she made an ‘Orange is the New Black’ cameo, and ‘DWTS’ bookers are now said to have "shown an interest" in signing the ‘Diva Forever’ star up for a future series.

A source said: "Gemma would love to have another crack at the US.

"The Americans loved her when she made a cameo in ‘Orange is the New Black’ and bookers on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ have shown an interest."

While it is thought this year might come too soon for The GC to take the US show by storm, bosses are said to be looking into the possibility of adding her to their 2021 line-up.

The source added to The Sun newspaper: "Gemma’s schedule is always jam-packed and it’s difficult for this year but the team in the US are keen to secure her for 2021."

Talk of US interest in Gemma comes after she has long been rumoured for a potential spot on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.

However, that looked unlikely when judge Craig Revel Horwood – known for his acid tongue – claimed she wasn’t "high calibre" enough to take part in the BBC Latin and ballroom show.

Speaking in 2017, he said: "Gemma Collins would be fun on the show but it’s not very often that we have reality stars take to the ballroom. We generally have people of a higher calibre than that."

But the former ‘TOWIE’ star hit back at Craig, insisting she is not "low rent".

She said: "I find his comment funny.

"I’m not low rent, Craig. We’ve all got to start somewhere and it’s a shame to just knock someone out of giving them a chance because they don’t think I’m high calibre enough.

"Well I’m sorry I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth but I get 2.2million hits on my social media. Where did he start?

"He was just a dancer and I was just a girl from Romford once. I’m not being funny, a couple more years who knows? I could be sitting drinking tea with Madonna.

"If anything, I’d probably bring a different audience to the BBC. It’ll be called the BGC by the time I’ve finished with rumba-ing it up."

The GC took part in ‘Dancing on Ice’ last year, but with mixed results. She finished eighth but regularly clashed with then-judge Jason Gardiner throughout the series.

Her on/off boyfriend James ‘Arg’ Argent was recently linked to the ice-skating show.
