Gemma Atkinson has joined the cast of ‘Emmerdale’.
The 30-year-old actress is set to arrive in the village as the ITV soap’s veteran Bob Hope’s (Tony Audenshaw) estranged daughter Carly Hope.
She shared: "I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the cast of ‘Emmerdale’ and I cannot wait to see what’s in store for Carly. I hope you all enjoy watching her story unfold."
Carly will be seen making life difficult for her dad – who has been married seven times to five different women – when she shows up expecting him to make up for lost time.
However, viewers will discover that she too has a string of failed relationships behind her, meaning she has more in common with her father than she cares to admit.
Gemma – who is best known for playing Lisa Hunter in Channel 4 soap ‘Hollyoaks’ from 2001 to 2005 – is scheduled to begin filming later this month and will make her on-screen debut in late March.
‘Emmerdale’ series producer Kate Oates said of Gemma’s casting: "I’m delighted to welcome Gemma to the cast, her character Carly is sure to liven things up for Bob and Brenda [Lesley Dunlop] and anyone who crosses her path."
