Game of Thrones will not get a prequel spin-off

‘Game of Thrones’ won’t be getting a prequel series.
With only two seasons left for the hit fantasy drama, fans have been asking whether or not there would be any chance of spin-off set in the past.
Executive producer David Benioff has now answered that question, saying "this is it" and they won’t be making anything else once the final two seasons have aired.
When quizzed at the Emmy Awards if he would ever consider making a prequel series, the 45-year-old producer told reporters: "You might want to ask George (R.R. Martin) about that. It’s a great world that George created. I think it’s a very rich world, and I’m sure there will be other series set in Westeros, but for us, this is it. That’s really a question for George."
Author of the novels George R.R. Martin won’t be quitting the ‘Game of Thrones’ world any time soon, and has revealed that fans of the series can still enjoy new material in written form.
Speaking at the event, the 67-year-old writer said: "Well, I do have thousands of pages of fake history – everything that led up to Game of Thrones – so there’s a wealth of material there, and I’m still writing more. At the moment, we still have this show to finish, and I still have two books to finish, so that’s all speculation."
The news comes after the HBO hit took home 12 of the 24 Emmys it was nominated for, putting the show’s total at 39 and making it the most decorated prime time series in Emmy history.
The show beat the previously most crowned programme, sitcom ‘Frasier’, by just one prize, surpassing its impressive 38 trophies.
Most notably, the fantasy show picked up the coveted gong for Best Drama, as well as Best Directing for a Drama Series, and Best Writing for a Drama Series.
Series stars Maisie Williams, Kit Harrington, Emilia Clarke, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Sophie Turner were all in attendance at the glitzy ceremony.
