Gal Gadot to star in Wonder Woman

Gal Gadot will star in a solo ‘Wonder Woman’ movie.

The 29-year-old actress – who has taken on the comic book character in the upcoming flick ‘Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice’ – will appear in her own spin-off starring the legendary superhero, Warner Brothers has confirmed.

Also landing their own DC Comics solo projects are ‘The Flash’, who will be played by Ezra Miller and ‘Aquaman’, starring Jason Momoa, which are set to be released in 2019.

The offerings will be followed by ‘Shazam’ starring former wrestler Dwayne Johnson in 2019 and will end with the release of a new Cyborg movie and a ‘Green Lantern’ reboot in 2020.

First up on the list of DC comic spin-offs will be ‘Suicide Squad’ – which is set to follow ‘Batman v Superman’ – hitting cinemas in 2017.

The studios have also confirmed that both Batman and Superman will be starring in their own solo flicks in the future.

Meanwhile, Gal recently entered into negotiations to star in ‘Ben-Hur’.

The brunette beauty is said to be in early talks to take on the female lead in Paramount and MGM’s upcoming film adaptation of Lew Wallace’s 1880 novel ‘Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ’, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Gadot would play the part of Esther, a slave with whom Ben-Hur falls in love, if she was to sign up for the project.

‘American Hustle’ actor Jack Huston is starring as the Jewish prince Ben-Hur, who is betrayed into slavery by his onetime friend Messala, played by Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ Toby Kebbell.

The prince is forced to fight his way to freedom and vengeance, with Morgan Freeman set to play the man who trains him to become a winning chariot racer.

Timur Bekmambetov is to direct the film – which will also act as a remake of the Charlton Heston-starring 1959 movie as well as a second adaptation of the book – from a script by Keith Clarke and John Ridley.

Gadot – who has also previously appeared in the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise is scheduled to begin filming ‘Ben-Hur’ in Europe early next year for a February 2016 release date.
