Gal Gadot gets ‘guns’ playing Wonder Woman

Gal Gadot says playing Wonder Woman has given her "curves and guns".
Shooting on the standalone superhero film has wrapped and the 31-year-old Israeli actress says playing Diana Prince and her mighty alter ego has changed her body for the better.
Gal – who debuted as the character in this year’s blockbuster ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ – told Entertainment Weekly magazine: "I gained a lot of body mass after I was first cast in the role. I danced for 12 years and I played a lot team sports: basketball, volleyball. But now I lift a lot of weights. That’s new. I feel much stronger then I was. I feel it on my posture and the way I hold my body. I feel good. I started out very, very skinny and because I gained body mass, I really enjoy the way my body looks … better than I did before. I enjoy the curves. I enjoy the strength, the back, the guns. Now I’m aware of my muscles. And I like it."
The new ‘Wonder Woman’ film is the DC Comic character’s first solo cinematic movie in her 75-year history.
Gadot feels a "big responsibility" to portray a "strong" woman, especially because she wants her four-year-old daughter Alma – her child with her husband Yaron Versano – to have positive female role models.
She explained: "This is the first time we are telling this story and I feel like for so many boys, they have great role models to work with. They have Superman and Batman and Spider-Man and the list goes on and on. And they are strong and almighty and they are positive and active and proactive … I feel that I’ve got the opportunity to set a great role model for girls to look up to a strong, active, compassionate, loving, positive woman and I think it’s so important. It’s about time that somebody will do that and I’m very privileged and honoured to be the one."
‘Wonder Woman’ is directed by Patty Jenkins, written by Allen Heinberg and Geoff Johns.
Gadot stars alongside Star Trek Beyond’s’ Chris Pine, Robin Wright and Lucy Davis who starred in ‘Shaun of the Dead’.
‘Wonder Woman’ is due to be released in June 2017.
