Frisky Business as sex shop TV series starts

‘Frisky Business’ will give an insight into the lives of staff at the UK’s biggest sex toy retailer as the series kicks off tonight (26.03.14).

The Lifetime show, which goes behind-the-scenes at the Lovehoney warehouse in Bath in Somerset, will give viewers a cheeky peek into the bedroom antics of Britain’s most adventurous couples.

Andrea, who works in the returns department at Lovehoney, told BANG Showbiz: "We are pretty excited about it. I think the [first episodes] are absolutely fabulous.

"I’ve been working there for five and half years and we have a great returns policy for customers – we’ve heard some funny stories of why they want to return items.

"One woman thought she was getting a lovely Valentine’s Day present, a pair of diamond earrings, but her husband bought her a load of sex toys.

"She brought them back and wanted a refund so she could get her earrings.

"Some [also] tell us they want to change their ‘boring’ girlfriends when they return sex toys.

"I think there’s a lot of people out there who are still a bit shy about sex shops [but] it is getting a lot better than it was."

The business was set up by former journalist Richard Longhurst and has now taken on the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ brand, inspired by the E.L James erotic novels, which has seen profits go through the roof.

Andrea said: "They are lovely products. We have the whip, the handcuffs, spanking cream, ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ underwear selection and restraints.

"When the film comes out it will also help, I think it will be a bit tamer than the book, but I’m looking forward to it and it’s good for business."

Andrea also hopes the six-part series will change people’s perceptions of sex shops and customers who purchase sex toys online.

She added: "Sex isn’t sleazy and us people working at Lovehoney are just doing normal jobs, we make customers happy and everywhere we go we’re always having a laugh and a giggle."

‘Frisky Business’ premieres on Lifetime tonight at 10pm.
