Freddie Flintoff hosting Don’t Rock The Boat

Freddie Flintoff will host ‘Don’t Rock The Boat’ later this year.

The ‘Top Gear’ star will be at the helm of the upcoming ITV series alongside co-presenter AJ Odudu as two teams of celebrities row from Lands End to John O’Groats.

The new show – which was announced as part of the broadcaster’s autumn schedule – will see 12 famous faces in teams of six "in the race of a lifetime".

South Shore co-founder Melanie Leach – whose production company is behind the series – told Deadline: "We were thinking about what are the other things that we could do with a celebrity cast that is really physically and mentally challenging.

"Rowing is a great British tradition… and we thought it’s a good precinct that feels unexplored in terms of celebrity reality shows."

Melanie explained that ITV had been looking for a new format which could be made despite the current coronavirus pandemic, which has halted production for the TV and film industry over the past few months.

Explaining why ‘Don’t Rock The Boat’ is well-suited, she added: "ITV was very keen to find something that was producible under corona circumstances.

"The great thing about this show is it’s predominantly outside and we can also produce it within a bubble."

Meanwhile, the likes ‘Catchphrase’, ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?’ and Phillip Schofield’s ‘The Million Pound Cube’ are all returning to the studio, while ITV has also confirmed comebacks for ‘Family Fortunes’, ‘The Chase’ and ‘Supermarket Sweep’.

As well as ‘Don’t Hate The Playaz’ and ‘Hey Tracey’, ITV will be introducing new singing competition ‘Celebrity Karaoke Club’.

The lighthearted programme will see the stars perform their all time favourite karaoke hits.
