Fox buys rights to Stan Lee movie

20th Century Fox have bought the rights to make a movie about Stan Lee.
The 93-year-old comic-book writer, who has famously made cameos in several Marvel movies, including ‘Thor’ and ‘The Avengers’, is now getting a film made about his life, but it will not be a biopic.
The studio – who helped bring ‘X-Men’ and ‘The Fantastic Four’ to the big screen – have acquired the rights to make a motion picture about the living legend, with the goal to create a period action-adventure movie.
The project will be an adventure with Stan as the central character, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
It has been described by one insider as being similar to "Roger Moore’s 007".
Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey, the producers behind movies such as ‘Twilight’ and ‘The Maze Runner’, are attached to produce the film, with Stan Lee himself – along with Gil Champion – serving as executive producer.
Matt Reilly will oversee the project on behalf of Fox.
The story of Stan has been well documented already, but never in a project such as this one.
Stan Lee – born Stanley Lieber – entered the comic book publishing world at the age of 17 in 1939 when he worked for his uncle at Timely Comics.
It was his dream to write the "great American novel", and almost gave up completely before his wife convinced him to give the comics one last shot.
Stan was in his 40s when he co-created ‘The Fantastic Four’ – the start of the Marvel Age of comics.
Then came characters such as Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Iron Man, and the Hulk.
For the action-adventure project, no writer has yet been hired to flesh out the story, so it is unclear how much of Stan’s life will be documented in the movie.
