Fleur East: New single will show ‘cheeky’ side

Fleur East’s new single will show her "cheeky" side.

The 27-year-old singer has announced the release of her debut single ‘Sax’ and revealed the naughty track will give people a taste of what to expect from her album, due next month.

She said: "I always knew that ‘Sax’ would be the first single. It’s fun, cheeky and a song that people can move to. It’s indicative of the sound that’s on the new album – a salute to old school with a modern twist.

"I’m excited for people to hear it and hope they love it as much as I do."

Fleur reached the finals of ‘The X Factor’ last year and will now go head-to-head with the show’s winner Ben Haenow with the release of her single (23.10.15), just a fortnight after his first single ‘Second Hand Heart’ (09.10.15).

But it’s not the first track Fleur has recorded since leaving the signing competition last year, as she recently recorded a rendition of Alicia Keys’ ‘Girl On Fire’ for Virgin Media’s latest advert promoting their new Vivid 200Mbps broadband.

Speaking about the cover, she commented: "I have always been a huge fan of Alicia Keys – I covered her songs when I was on last year’s ‘The X Factor’. Covering ‘Girl On Fire’ for the new Virgin Media ad has been so much fun – my original material on the new album is mostly upbeat so covering a ballad has been a good change. I am privileged to cover someone as iconic as Alicia and that relates to inspirational women too."
