Ferne McCann’s ex-boyfriend Arthur Collins jailed for 20 years

Ferne McCann’s ex-boyfriend Arthur Collins has been jailed for 20 years.
The 25 year old was sentenced to two decades behind bars with an extra five years on licence at Wood Green Crown Court yesterday (19.12.17) after he was found guilty of throwing acid on a group of revellers in a packed nightclub in London in April.
During sentencing, Judge Noel Lucas QC described the crime as a "despicable act" and labelled him an "accomplished liar "who has "not the slightest remorse."
He added: "You knew precisely what strong acid would do to human skin.
"Having thrown the acid over the club you slunk away and hid in the rear and pretended to be nothing to do with the mayhem you had caused. It was deliberate and calculated and you were intent on causing really serious harm to your victims."
Arthur was found guilty of five counts of GBH with intent and nine counts of ABH after 22 people were injured when he lobbed the liquid in Mangle E8 earlier this year.
One victim suffered third-degree chemical burns to the left side of the face and required a skin graft, while others had eye injuries.
Sophie Hall, from Poole, Dorset – who was injured in the attack – said she had hoped that Arthur would get a life sentence as she has to live with her scars for life.
She told the BBC after sentencing had concluded: "Arthur showed no signs of remorse in court. I have to live with my scars for life."
Arthur admitted to throwing the liquid but claimed during the court case last month that he believed it was a date rape drug that he’d confiscated from someone.
He had six previous convictions – including using threatening words, possession of cocaine, drink-driving and assault – and was given a six-month sentence suspended for 12 months at Woolwich Crown Court for punching a man in a nightclub in 2015.
While he was waiting for his trial, Arthur became a father to Ferne’s two-month-old daughter Sunday but he’s been told he’s not allowed anything to do with them now.
