Faye Brookes wanted for Strictly Come Dancing and I’m A Celebrity

Faye Brookes is reportedly in a bidding war between ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’

The 32-year-old soap star – who played Kate Connor on ‘Coronation Street’ until 2019 – is said to be wanted for the BBC Latin and ballroom dance competition due to her musical experience, while the ITV reality show bosses would expect her to dish the dirt on her ex-fiance Gareth Gates.

An insider told the Daily Star newspaper: "Expect to see Faye Brookes in either ‘I’m a Celeb’ or ‘Strictly’.

"’I’m a Celeb’ will be a much bigger pay packet and better box office because fans will want to see her talk about her break-up from Gareth.

"But she might go for the glitz and glamour of ‘Strictly’ given her background in theatre."

Faye would be a top pick for the hit dancing competition following her starring roles across a number of theatre productions, including ‘Grease’, ‘Shrek’ and ‘Legally Blonde’.

But would also make a juicy addition to the camp in this year’s ‘I’m A Celeb’ – which has been relocated to north Wales following the coronavirus pandemic – after she split from the 36-year-old singer after seven years together.

However, Faye isn’t the only soap star the ITV show has their eye on as they are also hoping to bag fellow Weatherfield favourite, Tisha Drew Merry.

Tisha – who played Steph Britton on the cobbles – previously ruled out a chance to camp out in the Australian jungle due to her fear of giant creepy crawlies, but she could be up for the task now the show has been relocated to Gwrych Castle.

An insider said: "Now that the show isn’t going to be in Australia there are a few more names in the frame."
