Faye Brookes bans Gareth Gates from joining Corrie

Faye Brookes has banned Gareth Gates from joining ‘Coronation Street’.
The 29-year-old actress is keen to land a part on the soap, but the brunette beauty – who plays Kate Connor in the programme – has warned him off because she doesn’t want to mix business with pleasure.
He said: "I’d quite fancy a role on ‘Coronation Street’ but Faye doesn’t want me there.
"She tells me that it’s her turf."
Gareth – who has been dating Faye for more than five years – has now set his sights on a part in rival soap ‘Emmerdale’.
The former ‘Pop Idol’ runner-up added to the Daily Star newspaper: "’Emmerdale’ would have to be the one for me to join. I’d love it."
If Gareth did defy Faye’s wishes and land a part on ‘Corrie’ he wouldn’t be the only talent show star on the cast as ‘X Factor’ winner Shayne Ward is currently playing Aidan Connor, the brother of Faye’s alter-ego Kate.
Last month, Faye revealed Kate will get a new love interest in the show which will "shock people", and she can’t wait to see how the story unfolds.
She said: "Trust me it’s not quiet anymore! We are ready to go for this year. I’m not going to give too much away but there’s definitely something coming on the love life front.
"It’s going to shock people. I don’t think fans will guess who it is and neither is Kate, but I’m really excited and want to embrace it – and hopefully this time it will be for the long haul."
Faye’s character was previously engaged to Caz Hammond (Rhea Bailey) but she departed Weatherfield in handcuffs after Kate realised the scheming former soldier was stalking Maria Connor (Samia Ghadie).
