Fans pay respects to Dolores O’Riordan

Hundreds of fans have paid respects to the late Dolores O’Riordan after her body was put in public repose.
The Cranberries singer passed away on Monday (15.01.18) at the age of 46, and on Sunday (21.01.18) her body was placed in an open coffin at Saint Joseph’s Church in her home town of Limerick in Ireland, where fans of the star were able to visit her and pay their respects.
Fans of the ‘Zombie’ hitmaker were spotted lining up outside the church, where photos of the singer on stage were placed, and a message placed with flowers beside the singer’s coffin read: "The song has ended, but the memories linger on."
One music fan, who visited the church to pay her respects, said the star was a "legend" who "took over the world" with her music.
They told Sky News: "I’m so grateful to the family that we – the public – got to see her and pay our respects to her … I thought she was amazing, she was a credit to Ireland."
The day of public repose – which is when the body of a deceased person, usually of high social stature, is made available for public viewing – comes just a few days before Dolores’ private funeral is set to take place on Tuesday (23.01.18), at the Church of Saint Ailbe in Ballybricken, County Limerick.
Although the funeral is set to be private, it has been reported that the mass will be broadcast live by local radio.
Dolores was in London for a recording session earlier this week when she passed away.
A statement released at the time by a spokesperson at her representatives Lindsey Holmes Publicity said: "Irish and international singer Dolores O’Riordan has died suddenly in London today. She was 46 years old. The lead singer with the Irish band The Cranberries, was in London for a short recording session. No further details are available at this time."
