Even producer Gordo had no clue Drake was dropping three albums

Even Drake’s producer Gordo had no idea the rapper was going to release three albums.

The What Did I Miss? hitmaker’s friend and frequent collaborator had worked on the music for the last 18 months, but he was under the impression Drake was dropping two LPs.

He told Rolling Stone magazine: “I knew it was going to be two albums. I didn’t know it was going to be three.”

On May 15, Drake dropped Iceman, Habibti and Maid of Honour, with the latter featuring most of Gordo’s tracks.

He contributed to Road Trips, Outside Tweaking, Amazing Shape, New Bestie, True Bestie, BBW, Stuck, Goose and the Juice, and Hoe Phase, as well as working on Habibti’s WNBA.

Gordo described Maid of Honour as “just different flows, different energies, different vibes”.

He added: “It’s super, super different and it’s been this thing where I’ve been the guy that he has done different stuff with.

“Obviously, I’ve heard the rap stuff but him doing all the crossover stuff with me, that’s just the coolest thing about it.”

However, Gordo also revealed how “a lot of these records were done by Drake”, and despite them collaborating, the rapper ended up exploring the production and splicing together songs.

The producer explained: “We would give him these pieces and then like, the version that I heard on the album was a version I never heard before.”

The epic drop follows months of teasing through Drake’s chaotic Iceman livestream series, where he first hinted he’d be releasing “back‑to‑back‑to‑back” albums.

Drake first kicked off this era back in July 2025 when he launched the original Iceman livestream and previewed early tracks like What Did I Miss? Two more episodes followed, spawning the singles Which One with Central Cee and Dog House featuring July Wolf and Yeat.

But the wildest moment came in April.

Drake’s team put a huge ice block tower – estimated to be around 15ft high, 20ft long, and 15ft wide – in a car park in downtown Toronto, and he told fans the release date was inside.

He wrote on Instagram: “Release Date Inside. 81 BOND STREET DOWNTOWN TORONTO (sic)”

According to Rolling Stone magazine, some climbed onto the huge block and attempted to gain access to the Iceman release date by using sledgehammers, and one supporter even used a blowtorch.

Several signs near to the structure read: “Danger Do Not Touch. This ice structure may break or collapse without warning, and falling ice or sharp fragments may cause serious injury or death.

“Do not touch or interact with the structure. Any contact with the structure is at your own risk.”

The triple release marks Drake’s first solo studio efforts since 2023’s For All the Dogs.
