Eva Speakman reveals harrowing domestic abuse battle

Eva Speakman "felt shame" during her harrowing domestic abuse battle.
The 50-year-old life coach has broken her silence on her own experience with an abusive ex-boyfriend who left her hospitalised after an attack on a night out in front of friends and family.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ on Wednesday (13.11.19), she said: "I got headbutted three times.
"I remember hitting the deck and the excruciating pain that I have never felt in my life. I was really frightened, I felt shame."
Her abusive partner even went to her house after she was discharged and she claims the guy punched her dad in the face – which made her realise the relationship had to end – but she didn’t tell her parents about the domestic violence until last week.
Eva – who had low self-esteem and was bullied at school – explained that during their relationship the abuse was "gradual", and she was told she wasn’t allowed to talk to anyone without her then-partner’s permission.
The programme’s co-host Holly Willoughby was tearful as she listened to Eva, whose husband Nik supported her on the show, recall her horrific ordeal.
She opened up on the traumatic time, and wept as she revealed her partner would give her "a look" which made her wary.
Eva added: "There was a look, and I knew if that look came about I’d have to be really careful."
However, Eva insisted there was still hope for those who have been through a similar emotional turmoil, and she reassured both Holly and viewers that she was able to overcome the pain of being a survivor of a violent relationship.
She said: "I would say please realise that you have done absolutely nothing wrong.
"They won’t change, you think you can change them but they will not change and it will only get worse. I was lucky I lived with my parents, I dread to think what would have happened if not."
