Emmerdale’s Samantha Giles didn’t want to wear "skimpy" underwear on-screen.
The soap star – who plays cougar Bernice Blackstock on the ITV soap – has admitted she was mortified when she found out she’d be wearing risqué underwear for scenes where she attempts to seduce Andy Sudgen (Kelvin Fletcher), with whom she’s having an on-screen affair.
She explained: "I worked with the costume department to make sure it wasn’t too skimpy. It said in the script Bernice would be wearing ‘complicated underwear’.
"I was like, ‘It’s 7pm, people don’t want to see that’. It had to be tasteful."
Samantha will be seen wearing a sexy black basque in the scenes – which are to appear on screen in the next few weeks – but will be humiliated when she finds Andy has reunited with his ex-wife Katie Addyman (Sammy Winward).
According to The Sun newspaper, Samantha said: "Bernice makes one last attempt to seduce him wearing risqué stuff – a basque, skirt and fishnet tights."
But when Andy rejects her, she decides to head to the pub and finds herself in even more trouble when a man invites her to a photoshoot and she agrees, not realising he wants her to pose as a glamour model
Samantha added: "This guy sees what she’s wearing and invites her to a photoshoot. That makes her feel better … She’s flattered and thinks it’s a professional modelling job … It doesn’t quite go to plan."
