Emmerdale’s Michelle Hardwick would love Susie Blake to join as on-screen mum

Michelle Hardwick would love Susie Blake to be cast as her on-screen mother.
The ‘Emmerdale’ actress is keen to find out more about her character Vanessa Woodfield’s history after seven years on the ITV soap, and she agrees with some supporter suggestions that former ‘Coronation Street’ star Susie – who played Shelley Unwin’s (Sally Lindsay) mum Bev Unwin on the cobbles – should join the show as her mother.
She said: "I’d love to see her continue to be happy.
"I’m also interested to find out more about Vanessa’s mum. I’ve been on the show for seven years now, and we still don’t know much about her.
"So I’d love to explore that. Does Vanessa have any other siblings out there? She doesn’t have a great relationship with her mum, but she does visit her.
"A lot of people say, ‘Oh gosh, we’d love to see Vanessa’s mum – who would it be?’
"There’s been a few suggestions. Some people have said that Susie Blake would be good."
Away from the Dales, Michelle is "loving" being married to ‘Emmerdale’ producer Kate Brooks, and they are planning a UK-based trip for their anniversary.
She added to Inside Soap magazine: "This is my first year of being Mrs Brooks, and we’re loving being married.
"We’re doing up our house right now, and we’ll probably go away somewhere for our anniversary, but it will have to be in the UK so we can take our little dog, Fred."
And Michelle is expecting wedding bells to be ringing on-screen, too, after recently saying she is confident Emmerdale’s Vanity – Vanessa and Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) – will marry "at some point".
She said: "I don’t think there’s another wedding for the moment. There’s far too much going on.
"I’m sure there will be one in the future at some point, but maybe not right now."
