Emmerdale’s Michael WIldman on toughest acting job

Michael Wildman says ‘Emmerdale’ is the most demanding acting job of his career.
The soap star – who joined the cast as Al Chapman in August last year – has opened up on the challenges when it comes to working on the ITV programme after 25 years in the industry.
Appearing on ITV’s ‘Loose Women’ on Monday (20.01.20), he said: "You go in and you work 12-13-hour shifts and it is relentless.
"I always say to people on this job, every script I’ve had over the last two decades I get every week and a half.
"It’s like having a new job every week which is great because I never know what’s coming. It’s one of the hardest jobs you’ll do in the game."
Michael also admitted his own mother was excited about his soap role than she was when he played centaur Magorian in ‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’.
He added: "Yeah, that wasn’t a lie, seriously, it really wasn’t. I mean, she’s been incredibly supportive my whole career, it’s been almost 25 years in the game.
"But yeah, when I said I was joining ‘Emmerdale’ she completely – well, she almost had a cardiac to be honest, and she’s got a bit of a dicky ticker anyway!"
In the past, the actor – who has also appeared in the likes of ‘Ready Player One’ and ‘The Bourne Ultimatum’ – revealed his mother and grandmother both loved the show.
He previously said: "I don’t know who’s more excited about me joining ‘Emmerdale’, myself or my mum. I know it’s her, and was my late grandmother’s, favourite soap.
"I mean I’ve rubbed some serious shoulders in the business over the last 25 years, but the jump for joy from her was unmatched."
