Jeff Hordley would like to see Cain and Moira Dingle’s romance take a "happier" turn.
The ‘Emmerdale’ actor admitted there is "always" the chance of the on-off pair rekindling their romance, and seeing his character back with Natalie J. Robb’s character would be a nice twist amid the negativity of the coronavirus pandemic.
Appearing on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ on Thursday (30.04.20), he said: "There’s always a potential for a reunion between these two, because they’re so in love.
"It would be nice, I think, in these times to see happier things on the show and show some positivity."
The ITV soap has suspended production due to the ongoing health crisis, but Jeff suggested bosses could take a similar approach to Australian soaps like ‘Neighbours’ and ‘Home and Away’ when they return to set.
As well as limited crews, the programmes are banning on-screen kisses as they look to keep everyone safe while still getting back to work.
He added: "I think we’d be following the model they’ve done over in Australia, and that’s how we’d proceed if we were to go back, most definitely."
Meanwhile, with the UK on lockdown the 50-year-old actor has been trying to make the most of his time with wife and co-star Zoe Henry and their children.
He explained: "I’m trying to find the positives in the negative times, to be honest. So it’s nice not having scripts to be looking at lines all the time.
"We’re on our allotment a lot, doing brilliant things with the children – we’re doing Joe Wicks’ things every day.
"We’re out on bikes, they’re helping on the allotment. The allotment’s a really great thing, it’s the one normality we have."
