Emmerdale’s Ali steals money for desperate Ruby

‘Emmerdale’s’ Ali Spencer will steal money to help Ruby Haswell have a baby this week.

Ali, played by Kelli Hollis, will face jail as she goes to extreme measures to help her girlfriend get pregnant by stealing from pensioner William Makepeace (Dudley Sutton).

Ruby (Alicya Eyo) is "desperate" to start a family, but she is caught in a moral dilemma when Ali robs William, who she cares for.

Kelli told Inside Soap magazine: "Ali knows that Ruby is desperate right now. It’s a spur-of-the-moment thing when Ali takes money. With them being knocked back at the bank for a loan and worrying what Ruby’s going to do next to have this baby, this has been building up. After a bit of thought, Ali probably wouldn’t have done it."

Ali spots the stack of cash under William’s kitchen sink while attending his birthday party with Ruby and decides to make her move.

Kelli added: "The fact that this cash is there and she can get hold of it just tips her over the edge. Ali would never have planned to take the money – it just happens."

But upon discovering Ali’s theft, Ruby insists on returning the money and William’s grandson Seb (James Redmond) threatens to call the police.

Kelli said: "Ruby takes the blame for the theft of the money. She thinks it’s best as she and Seb are mates from way back."
