Emmerdale’s abuse storyline to get darker

Emmerdale’s boss has teased that the abusive storyline involving Pierce Harris and Rhona Goskirk will run right up until the end of the year and will turn even more "dark".
Viewers were hoping that the manipulative businessman – portrayed by Jonathan Wrather – would be exposed now that Rhona’s best friend Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) knows what he’s been doing to the loveable vet (Zoe Henry) behind closed doors, but it seems the end isn’t in sight any time soon for the poor brunette beauty
Speaking to the RadioTimes.com, Iain MacLeod said: "Rhona and Pierce will continue to escalate and deteriorate. His behaviour gets more and more dark and manipulative. And there’s a really huge story for them that will run right up to the end of the year."
Although bosses are remaining tight lipped on how the truth will come out, Iain previously teased that the abuse will become so aggressive that viewers may actually find it "uncomfortable" to watch, sparking rumours that it’ll end with a dramatic death.
He said: "What I’ve loved about it so far is that as soon as people saw Pierce getting together with Rhona so quickly, they started to suspect there was something not quite right about him. We’ve taken our time and let that story develop slowly and it reaches a kind of peak in April-May time, I think. It doesn’t come to an end there but there’s a big story explosion. The episodes are heart-stoppingly dramatic, quite a tough watch but an unbelievably big talking point heading into the summer."
