EMIN and Engelbert Humperdinck share big band cover of Help Me Make It Through The Night

EMIN and Engelbert Humperdinck have released a big band rendition of ‘Help Me Make It Through The Night’.

The 44-year-old Azerbaijani singer – who was named the People’s Artiste of Azerbaijan in 2018 – has joined forces with the 87-year-old balladeer on the cover for the Elvis tribute collection ‘Now or Never’, which arrives in full on Friday (09.02.24).

The record is produced by the legendary film composer David Foster – best known for his work with Dolly Parton, Barbra Streisand and Aretha Franklin – who came out of retirement just for this project.

EMIN first met Engelbert in Azerbaijan’s capital of Baku, in 2012, when the ‘There Goes My Everything’ singer represented the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song ‘Love Will Set You Free’, and EMIN was the half-time performer.

He said: “Ever since I was a teenager, I have loved the music of Engelbert. I have a treasured photograph of my mother holding an Engelbert album taken when she was a young girl, and it is a dream come true for me to have created this wonderful duet with the legend that is Enge.”

The album also features Nicole Scherzinger on ‘Love Me Tender’ and producer David’s wife Katharine McPhee duets with EMIN on ‘It’s Now or Never’.

Last year, Engelbert released the collection ‘All About Love’, including a rousing cover of the Bee Gees classic ‘How Can You Mend A Broken Heart’ and he believes his advancing years gave the track extra “weight and meaning”.

He told BANG Showbiz at the time: “The seasons of my life added weight and meaning to this song. It’s such an emotional song about a universal theme that hits us all at some point between the beats of our hearts.

“This country version gives it a gentle treatment. The original is one of my favourite Bee Gee songs.”
