Emily Barrington: I watched 24 instead of revising

’24: Live Another Day’ actress Emily Berrington watched the original series when she should’ve been revising for her exams.

The blonde beauty stars as Simone Al-Harazi alongside Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer in the follow-up to the hit series ’24’ and she’s confessed she never imagined she’d be starring in the show herself when she was avoiding doing work for her University degree by catching up on the latest episodes.

Quizzed on how she felt to be offered a role, she said: "I just couldn’t believe it. I watched it at University. I did a geography degree and if you told me whilst I was ignoring my geography degree revision in order to watch another episode of ’24’, that one day I wouldn’t need that geography degree and I’d actually be in ’24’, I’d have been quite pleased I think."

‘The Inbetweeners 2’ actress insists the appeal of the series is that it follows real time, which hasn’t been done before.

She explained: "The suspense that was created was just brilliant. And also it made it completely impossible to stop watching it. You couldn’t stop because you thought, ‘I must see what the next five minutes are and the next five minutes and the next five minutes’."

’24: Live Another Day’ is out on DVD now.
