Emily Atack’s mum cringes at her crude comedy

Emily Atack’s mum finds it tough to listen to her daughter talking about sex during her stand-up comedy routines.

The 30-year-old actress toured the country last year with her first stand-up show, ‘Talk Thirty To Me’, and will continue her second tour of her new show ‘Emily Atack Has Left the Group’ in September, but her mum, singer and comedian Kate Robbins, admitted it can be "quite hard" listening to her daughter’s crude jokes.

On the ‘Leicester Square Theatre’ podcast, Kate said: "She talks about having it off a lot and that’s quite hard for a parent to listen to.

"She does a whole routine about having it off when you’re on top of a bloke. But apart from that, I’m very proud of her."

And Kate – who became a prolific voice actress with the satirical show ‘Spitting Image’ – has shared some important career advice with her daughter.

She continued: "She’s got a natural talent for impressions. But I have said to her don’t go down that road of just being an impressionist because it really does go nowhere.

"Steve Coogan was an impressionist to start off with. Lenny Henry was. You can’t do it forever. There’s something a bit sad about seeing somebody that’s my age doing impressions."

Emily is set to pilot a new sketch show and stand-up comedy sequence for TV, which producers say will be "playing to the two big loves of Emily’s life – acting and making people laugh", and it will see the star "performing stand-up, mixed with sketches, all reflecting on the relatable topic of nights out".

A TV insider recently said: "This will be a source of pride, not only for her but for the whole family, as her famous mum was the star of ‘The Kate Robbins Show’ in the Eighties."
