Emily Atack needed ‘strong antidepressants’ during ‘tough time’

Emily Atack used to take medication to "get out of bed in the morning" when she was going through an "incredibly tough time".
The former ‘Inbetweneers’ star was on "strong antidepressants" which helped to "dry [her] tears", and while she is no longer taking any medication, she does still have days where she "struggles to get out of bed".
She said: "I was on strong antidepressants for a while.
"I’m med-free now. I used medication to get me out of bed in the morning during an incredibly tough time and to dry up my tears, but I’m not in that place any more.
"I was on them for three years on the advice of my doctor rather than my therapist.
"But I’m stronger now and the therapy has given me tools to cope with what life throws at me.
"But I definitely still have days where I struggle to get out of bed. Doesn’t everyone?"
Emily recently split from her boyfriend Rob Jowers and feels "incredibly sad" about their break-up, because she wanted him to be her "happy ending".
She said: "It’s been a very, very tough time and it’s still very raw. Luckily, I’ve got so many things happening in my life to distract me from the fact I’m incredibly sad.
"But I know the drill and I’ve got over boys before. Heartbreak gets harder to deal with as you get older as you pin your hopes on things. I so wanted this to be my happy ending."
While Emily is no longer on medication, she "actively looks forward to" attending her weekly therapy sessions.
Speaking to OK! magazine, she added: "Therapy is something I need, something I actively look forward to.
"As a creative, your mind is always here, there and everywhere, so that’s one way I can try to take care of my mind."
