Emeli Sandé: My new album is ‘more grown up’

Emeli Sandé’s new album is "more grown up".
The 29-year-old musician is due to release her second album ‘Long Live the Angels’ next month, and although she has admitted she was getting so "impatient" about releasing new music, she is happy it’s finally on its way.
She said: "I think the new [album] is just a lot more grown up. I think I really know myself a lot better and have confidence in who I am and I think that’s reflected in the music.
"I’ve been so impatient to share new music and perform new music so it feels really great to get it out there and get real life opinions back."
Only two tracks on the album feature guest vocals. The recently released ‘Garden’ contains spoken word verses from Ainey Zion and Jay Electronica, whilst the track ‘Tenderly’ features the voice of Emeli’s father – whom she visited in his home country of Zambia.
Speaking to Billboard, she said: "I visited Zambia three years ago and we would always sing and my dad was recording lots of things so I really wanted that to be part of the album," she said. "That track just made sense naturally."
But the release of a second album comes with some worries for the ‘Next to Me’ hitmaker, as she previously admitted the success of her first album ‘Our Version of Events’ brought her so much attention that she want to "disappear".
She said: "Sounds a bit dramatic but I just wanted to disappear. I just had this overwhelming sensation and realisation that everything had to stop. And then slowly it did.
"In retrospect, I was like a pressure cooker waiting to pop. I had to stop and really look at myself and realise who I was. That’s been the biggest lesson for me, learning to feel comfortable in who I am and what I represent and what I stand for."
Emeli Sandé’s second album ‘Long Live the Angels’ is due for release on November 11.
