Embarrassed tourist barged at Trooping the Colour

A tourist barged out of the way during Trooping the Colour insists it was his own fault.

Gerry Weatherhead, a retired RAF engineer, was watching the parade – which marks the official birthday of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth – with his wife outside Buckingham Palace on Saturday (13.06.15) but turned away and didn’t notice the soldiers approaching until it was too late.

He said: "As a former military man myself I’m more embarrassed than anything else – but no one was hurt and there was no harm done. It’s quite funny really…

"It was my fault for getting in the way. It would have helped if they had shouted sooner, but no harm was done and no one was hurt.

"Like I said, I’m just a bit embarrassed!"

And the semi-professional photographer insists he is "not at all" upset by the incident.

A clip of the scuffle – which has been viewed over a million times – shows Mr. Weatherhead chatting to his wife until he is body-barged by the soldier and the couple are forced to stumble out of the way of the procession, while someone can be heard shouting "Stupid man".

The 58-year-old tourist admitted he hadn’t heard the procession approaching because of the noise of the crowds.

He told MailOnline: "I was visiting London with my wife and we thought we we would go and see the Trooping of the Colour, as we’d never seen it before.

"So we took pictures of the Queen at The Mall and then we came back through St James’s park.

"To be honest with you I was dying for a pee so I was taking off my camera to hand to my wife, and with all the noise and the chatter I didn’t hear them coming – and that’s when all hell broke loose.

"Being ex-military myself I’m more embarrassed than anything else.

"There was so much noise I just did not hear.

"When the soldier bumped into me I initially thought a horse had walked into me."
