Elton John’s son joins Watford

Sir Elton John’s son has signed for Watford Football Club.
The 71-year-old singer’s seven-year-old boy Zachary is currently playing for the academy side of the Premier League club, which the ‘Rocket Man’ hitmaker owned in two spells between 1976 and 2002.
Speaking about his kids, Elton – who also has five-year-old son Elijah with husband David Furnish – said: "They’re thriving. They’re seven and five now.
"Zachary is incredibly into soccer. He plays for the Watford Academy team."
While Zachary loves the beautiful game, Elton and David’s son Elijah looks set to follow in the legendary singer’s footsteps.
He added: "Elijah loves music – they both do – but especially Elijah."
Despite Elton’s huge fame, he is hopeful his boys will not be "celebrity kids".
He is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper as saying: "They are great kids. We want them to have a normal life, to go to school and not be celebrity kids."
Elton first became club chairman at Watford – who are nicknamed the Hornets – in 1976 and immediately declared his ambition to get the Fourth Division club into the First Division.
He achieved that dream in 1982 when the club secured promotion to the top flight for the first time.
In December 2014, Elton – who is now the Hornets’ honorary life president – opened a new stand named after him at Watford’s stadium, Vicarage Road, which is based in south east England.
Standing on the pitch, he told the fans: "Watford Football Club is forever in my heart.
"I never thought I’d ever have a stand named after me. I never thought I’d sit in a stand.
It’s in the top 25 clubs in England and we should be very proud of that.
"To the people at the club, including those in the background, the home supporters and away supporters, the owner, the chairman and the board of directors; you have treated me with so much love.
"Let’s continue to have success. Let’s get to the Premiership. Thank you very, very much – this is one of the greatest days of my life."
