Ellie Leach won’t quit Coronation St

‘Coronation Street’s Ellie Leach is not leaving the soap.
Although Ellie’s character Faith Windass appeared to be considering moving away from the cobbles after her mother Anna invited her to move to Durham with her following her release from prison, Mikey North (who plays her on-screen brother Gary Windass) has insisted Ellie is staying on the show.
After the shocking events of Friday’s (01.06.18) episode, which saw Anna stab her nemesis Pat Phelan after being released from prison, she decided Weatherfield held too many bad memories for her and revealed her plans to move to Durham.
And while viewers saw Faith accept her offer to move with her, upsetting both her father Tim Metcalfe and her boyfriend Seb Franklin, Mikey has insisted all is not as it seems.
He told Digital Spy: "Ellie’s back. Faye just goes to visit her mum and stays with her."
Mikey also revealed he believes his character would have killed Phelan, if Sarah Platt had not stopped him.
He said: "I think if Sarah Platt hadn’t been there, Gary would have done. Having heard Phelan rile him about his mum and sleeping with his mum, that was Gary seeing red. So I think he would have gone a bit further if Sarah hadn’t put him off the idea.
"I’d have loved to be the one who did it, although my job security may not have! I’m quite glad Debbie Rush has done that bit for me. I’m actually trying to persuade Debbie to come back full time but she’s not biting yet!"
Despite her brief comeback, after leaving the show in January when her character was sentenced to prison, Debbie has no plans to return to the show full time.
