Eddie Murphy to star in 2016’s Beverly Hills Cop 4

Eddie Murphy will star in ‘Beverly Hills Cop 4’.

The 53-year-old actor will reprise his role as Axel Foley in the story which follows his character "who has been living a cushy life as a Beverly Hills detective" before he heads "back to the mean streets of Detroit during the coldest winter on record to navigate the new rules and old enemies in America’s toughest city," according to a statement from Paramount.

The hunk is set to team up with original producer Jerry Bruckheimer, who just started a long-term deal with Paramount Pictures.

Bruckheimer previously said: "We’re going to take Eddie [Murphy] back to Detroit."

Before adding: "He’s going to be in Beverly Hills … so we’re going to have some fun with him."

While ‘Tower Heist’ director Brett Ratner will helm the film and ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ writer Josh Appelbaum and ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol’ scribe Andre Nemec will write the screenplay.

The orginal film was released in December 1984 and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Comedy/Musical, and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Writing.

The newest installment of the action comedy is tipped for a March 25, 2016 release.
