Eddie Large’s widow reveals heartbreak over comedy star’s death

Eddie Large’s widow feels heartbroken after she was banned from seeing the comedy star before he passed away.
The comedian – who was best known as one half of the double act Little and Large, alongside Syd Little – contracted coronavirus while he was being treated for heart failure in hospital, and Patsy McGinnis has now revealed she was prevented from seeing her husband before he died.
She shared: "I was saying ‘please … please’, but they said they couldn’t let anyone in. It broke my heart I couldn’t be with him those last days."
Patsy, 76, also revealed that Syd was "heartbroken" by the passing of his comedy partner.
She told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: "Syd is heartbroken.
"He and Eddie were teenage friends and worked together from 1963. He’s essentially family and deserves to be there."
Patsy – who is a former singer and dancer – spoke to her husband on the phone hours before he passed away on Thursday (02.04.20).
She recalled: "The last words I said to him were, ‘Darling, I love you, we all miss you so much and really want you to be able to come home’.
"He wasn’t feeling good and said ‘I’m going to have to go, darling’. Then he said ‘I love you’, put the phone down and that was it. At 4 am the hospital rang to tell us he had passed away.
"We haven’t been able to see Eddie’s body since and I’m not sure if we’ll be allowed to."
