Ed Sheeran’s friendship with Taylor Swift is ‘unusual’

Ed Sheeran thinks his friendship with Taylor Swift is unusual.

The ‘Bloodstream’ hitmaker doesn’t think it is very common for two such successful artists to have a close bond, rather than being rivals.

He said: "It’s quite a weird thing for the number one and number two biggest-selling artists in the world to be close friends.

"I don’t think that happens a lot."

Though Taylor is renowned for her high-profile female friendships with stars including Selena Gomez, Karlie Kloss, and Cara Delevingne, Ed insists their hangout time isn’t restricted just to women.

Asked if he hangs out with the famous ‘squad’, he told Billboard magazine: "Of course. It’s not a vaginas-only club."

The 24-year-old singer – who is rumoured to be dating old school friend Cherry Seaborn – hates having his relationships in the public eye and doesn’t think his personal life is anyone else’s business.

He said: "I just never want to be public. It always, always backfires. I really wish I could disappear at moments that I’m with a significant other. It’s none of anyone’s f***ing business."

And next year, Ed is hoping to go travelling to the likes of Ghana, Kenya and South Africa, alone and without "a proper phone".

He added: "I’ll go to places for, like, an afternoon or an evening. By the time they realise I’m there, I’m already gone."
