‘EastEnders’ wins big at Inside Soap Awards


‘EastEnders’ was the big winner at the 2014 Inside Soap Awards tonight (01.10.14).

The BBC series was named Best Soap and Danny Dyer, who plays Mick Carter, picked up the Best Actor trophy, while The Carters were named Best Family and actress Jacqueline Jossa, who plays Lauren Branning and is currently expecting her first child with ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ star Dan Osborne, won the title of Sexiest Female at the star-studded ceremony in London.

‘Hollyoaks’ star Danny Mac took home the award for Sexiest Male for the second year running and his co-star Nikki Sanderson won Best Actress for her portrayal of domestic abuse victim Maxine Minniver.

The Channel 4 series – which scored 15 nominations across 13 categories – also won Best Story Line for its domestic abuse plot.

‘Coronation Street’ favourites Kate Ford, who plays Tracy Barlow, and Marc Baylis, who plays Rob Donovan, were named Best B**ch and Best Bad Boy, while Simon Gregson was named Funniest Male for his role as Steve McDonald.

‘Emmerdale’ also triumphed in a number of categories, including Best Newcomer for Michael Parr, Funniest Female for Laura Norton and five-year-old star Amelia Flanagan was named Best Young Actor.

Contemporary BBC series ‘Waterloo Road’ was named Best Drama and Australian series ‘Neighbours’ won Best Daytime Soap.
