‘EastEnders’ Suki Panesar will be ‘controlling and manipulative’

‘EastEnders’ newcomer Suki Panesar will be "controlling and manipulative".
The BBC One soap are introducing their newest character – played by Balvinder Sopal – next week and Balvinder has revealed just what is to come for Suki, who is close to her three sons – Kheerat, Jags and Vinny – but has a difficult relationship with daughter Ash, who was revealed as the boys’ estranged sister late last year.
Balvinder said: "They have a lot of history, as families do, and they have a few secrets. I think Ash and Suki are the same person. You know when you’re at loggerheads with someone who is very much like you? That mother/daughter relationship – they are both very strong-minded. Ash knows what she wants, Suki knows what she wants and thinks she knows what Ash needs, and Ash doesn’t want that! So, I think there is a conflict of interest there as well. Suki is the sort of person that puts an idea into your head and lets the seed grow, as if you came up with it."
And Balvinder has promised she has "lots of exciting storylines" coming up.
When asked whether Suki will lock horns, she added: "I hope so! That is what I would like! There are lots of exciting storylines coming up, so watch this space I say."
Balvinder previously expressed her excitement at joining the soap and admitted it was a "dream come true" to land a role on the programme.
She said: "I grew up watching ‘EastEnders’ religiously so to be joining the show and playing matriarch Suki Panesar is a dream come true – I am still pinching myself. I’m excited to see what’s in store for Suki as she joins her family on Albert Square."
