EastEnders’ Sharon fumes at Ian as Stacey returns in new trailer

A new ‘EastEnders’ trailer has hinted Sharon Mitchell could find out about Ian Beale’s big secret in upcoming scenes.

The BBC One soap will return to our screens on Monday (07.09.20) after being off air since June 16th, and Sharon – played by Letitia Dean – is set for a showdown with Ian (Adam Woodyatt).

In the 30-second autumn trail, she fumes to Ian: "What is all this?"

Viewers are well aware that it was Ian’s fault her son Dennis died on the Queen Vic’s party boat on the River Thames in February – but Sharon only thinks her best mate tried to save her boy. Elsewhere in the teaser, Stacey Fowler is back on Albert Square – after Lacey Turner returned from maternity leave – and she comes face-to-face with her pal Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton), who has been doing the dirty with Stacey’s estranged husband Martin Fowler (James Bye).

As the pair meet in the Square, Stacey says: "Anyone would think you ain’t pleased to see me."

What’s more, Chantelle Atkins’ (Jessica Plummer) domestic abuse looks set to continue at the hands of her evil husband Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith).

A furious Gray says to Chantelle: "Where have you been? I’ve been trying you for the last 20 minutes."

And he later shouts to her: "I am inside your head."

This comes after EastEnders’ executive producer Jon Sen recently revealed the soap have recruited some of the stars’ real-life partners to film intimate scenes, to get around social distancing guidelines.

He said: "Our greatest challenge is that we have several family units, that’s the nature of EastEnders and soap, and families who would be in the same household, so not at two-metre distances, but obviously they are played by actors who are obeying social distancing, so there’s a huge challenge at the heart of it.

"For those really crucial moments where two characters kiss we’ve actually invited the real-life partners of the actors on to the set to be able to cheat those kinds of moments."

What’s more, the soap have been using Perspex screens to enable actors to kiss, and the plastic sheets are later edited out.
