EastEnders mark royal baby birth

‘EastEnders’ marked the birth of the royal baby by shooting a last-minute scene.
In Tuesday night’s (24.04.18) episode, royalist Linda Carter – played by Kellie Bright – was shown raving about the birth of Prince William and Duchess Catherine’s third child, a baby boy who weighed 8lbs 7oz and was welcomed into the world on Monday (23.04.18).
She told mother-in-law Shirley Carter (Linda Henry): "8lbs 7oz, that is a very healthy weight isn’t it? If he’s got his daddy’s smile and his mum’s hair he’s going to be perfect.
"Makes me want to cry. Diana, a grandma again. All that joy she’s missing out on."
But no-nonsense Shirley wasn’t quite as pleased about the latest addition to the Royal Family.
She blasted: "Linda – why are you talking to me about it? I don’t care."
Linda replied: "You’re the only one here."
Shirley then ordered her son Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) to take her place behind the Queen Vic bar to hear all about Linda’s royal baby loving remarks.
She shouted: "Mick, Mick! Come here, stand here, and see what happens."
Linda then said: "I was just saying that 8lbs 7oz, that is a very healthy weight isn’t it?"
But like his mother, Mick also looked less than impressed with the discussion.
This isn’t the first time the BBC One soap – which is shot weeks in advance – has filmed a last-minute scene to mark a current affairs event.
Just last year, Martin Fowler (James Bye) won a cool £200 on Grand National winner One For Arthur, two days after the real-life race was won by the horse.
In 2016, Mick, Linda and Johnny Carter (Ted Reilly) discussed the impact of Brexit.
Linda said: "I just don’t know who to believe. I mean, is Brexit going to leave us better off or not?"
And in 2009, Denise Fox (Diane Parish) mentioned the sad news about Michael Jackson’s shock death to Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker) when she wished him a happy birthday.
