EastEnders’ Johnny Carter to get boyfriend

EastEnders’ Johnny Carter is to get a love interest.

The soap favourite, played by Sam Strike, will land himself a boyfriend next week after attending a Gay Pride event but he is desperate to keep his new romance a secret from his mother Linda Carter (Kellie Bright), who is still yet to come to terms with his sexuality.

Johnny heads off to London’s West End for a party but returns home with a headache – and a love bite on his neck which he tries to hide from overbearing Linda.

A source told SoapSquawk.co.uk: "It soon becomes clear that Johnny met someone at Gay Pride and they really hit it off. He’s got a love bite on his neck and a phone that won’t stop buzzing with text messages – it seems someone is smitten!"

Johnny came out to his parents earlier this year and his moving heart-to-heart talk with his dad Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) earned a British Soap Award nomination.

Sam previously admitted he was blown away by the positive reaction the episode had.

He said: "With that scene where Johnny comes out to Mick, I was really nervous the night it aired, because you want it to look convincing but then you want to do justice by the people that have been there and done it. It was a real proving ground for me, because it was the first time I actually had to do any proper drama acting.

"I’ve had letters and Danny’s had letters saying that we’d helped people to come out, and it makes things worth it."
