EastEnders hit with complaints over paedophile line

‘EastEnders’ has been slapped with complaints after Mick Carter was accused of being a paedophile.
The BBC One soap has found itself in hot water after viewers complained to Ofcom – the UK’s communications regulator – after the loveable pub landlord (Danny Dyer) was wrongly imprisoned for shooting Stuart Highway (Ricky Champ) and later called a "n****" by his fellow inmates.
A spokesperson told the Daily Star newspaper: "I can confirm we have received six complaints about the Mick Carter/Stuart Highway storyline [which aired last Monday]."
Show fans were left glued to their seats earlier this week when fellow inmate Fraser backed Mick into a corner in his cell before accusing him of being a paedophile after Stuart began to fear that he may be released from prison due to a new lawyer he had employed.
Fraser said: "Stuart, he’s a legend in here. Says he tracked you down, had you cornered like the rat that you are. He was going to destroy you and you stopped him, didn’t you?"
Mick hit back: "He’s lying."
To which Fraser replied: "You’re one of them – a vile, twisted little n****."
Although viewers are devastated to see the loveable Mick behind bars, Danny is really excited about exploring the dark storyline.
He said recently: "What I was really pleased about was we don’t just leave it at the gates, we actually delve into the darkness of what it’s like to try and survive in prison. I’m happy to be focused on that. With Stuart all bets are off, anything can happen, so it’s tied in lovely with that storyline."
Danny "didn’t feel" as though he was appearing in ‘EastEnders’ during the prison scenes, but has praised the casting of Mick’s fellow cons.
He added: "The job changes when you go off the Square. We built a set within the studio and I was interacting with different characters so it didn’t feel like ‘EastEnders’ for a bit.
"I really think we’ve nailed it, it’s been very well cast.
"It was nice to get a bit of a fresh intake on how Mick would survive away from his family."
