EastEnders confirm compilation finale for Secrets from the Square

‘EastEnders’ have confirmed a special compilation show will round off the ‘Secrets from the Square’ series.

The spin-off show – which is hosted by Stacey Dooley – has aired on the BBC since June, when the main soap went off air due to the programme running out of episodes amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The behind-the-scenes programme is to come to an end in two weeks, and now the Beeb has confirmed details for the final episodes.

While there won’t be an episode on August 31, due to the Bank Holiday, the following night will see Natalie Cassidy and Shona McGarty recapping the most memorable moments as their respective characters Sonia Fowler and Whitney Dean.

On September 3, Kat Moon and Stacey Slater stars Jessie Wallace and Lacey Turner will discuss their on-screen family.

Finally, on September 4 fans will be treated to a special compilation edition featuring previously unseen interviews and clips from across the whole series.

Then, on September 7 viewers will be treated to new episodes of the soap itself.

The update comes after host Stacey suggested there were plans for ‘Secrets from the Square’ to have a longer run, although it’s unclear whether this will be the case.

She recently said: "I’ve been doing a gig on TV with ‘EastEnders’ with all the actors. It’s been lovely. It’s on every week until 2022, so I can only apologise."

Production on ‘EastEnders’ was halted in March, when the UK entered a lockdown period, and the soap was forced to go on a hiatus in June after running out of new episodes.

Jon Sen, the soap’s executive producer, has teased details of the new episodes via the show’s Instagram page.

He previously shared: "From the moment we turned the lights out in The Queen Vic our ambition was to come back with a bang and this autumn certainly does that.

"As soon as Albert Square reawakens the drama returns at a pace and, although working within social distancing guidelines has certainly given us some new challenges, I am incredibly proud of what everyone has achieved. The show is looking fantastic and we can’t wait for "series two" to begin… (sic)"
