Eamonn Holmes makes return to breakfast TV on Good Morning Britain

Eamonn Holmes returned to breakfast television on Monday (10.04.17) when he hosted ‘Good Morning Britain’ alongside Kate Garraway and Charlotte Hawkins.
The 57-year-old breakfast television veteran hosted ‘GMTV’ for 12 years and ‘Sky News Sunrise’ for 11 years and he admitted it was "great to be back" on the early shift as he and his co-stars filled in for regulars Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid who are both on holiday.
Addressing viewers of the ITV show, Eamonn – who left ‘Sunrise’ last year – said: "That’s the past, this is the present. It’s different but the same in many ways. I’ve been out of news for six months now and it’s great to get back in and just be involved in events so thanks for having me."
"Thank you for tolerating me, it’s for one week only, you don’t have to put up with me for too much."
After six months of lie ins, Eamonn – who underwent double hip surgery last year – admitted the early morning alarm was a shock to his system and his wife Ruth Langsford, his ‘This Morning’ co-host, was less than impressed with him waking her up.
He said: "No [Ruth’s] not happy. It was a ridiculous time – 2.40am or something alarm clock today. She was not pleased. I think there will be separate sleeping arrangements brought in. I think that’s the way it’s going to be."
To mark his first day in the job, Eamonn received a host of messages from celebrities on the red carpet at the Olivier Awards in London on Sunday evening (09.04.17).
‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge Amanda Holden said: "You know I love you. I might come on this week if Piers isn’t there."
And Take That singer Gary Barlow said: "Good luck Eamonn, good luck audience, sending you my best sir as always, fabulous man."
