Duchess Meghan wears Diana’s earrings in Sydney

Duchess Meghan wore jewellery owned by the late Princess Diana on her first public appearance with Prince Harry since her pregnancy announcement on Monday (15.10.18).
The 34-year-old former actress donned a pair of stunning gem-encrusted butterfly earrings which were reportedly worn by Harry’s mother Diana on a trip to Canada in 1986, a year after the British royal was born, as the couple visited Sydney, Australia.
The duchess – who was known as Meghan Markle before she married the prince – later paired the earrings with a white shift dress was designed by Australian designer Karen Gee, which gave the first glimpse of her baby bump.
The fitted dress retails at $1,800 and interest in the ‘Blessed’ shift style caused the Karen Gee website to crash.
The Duchess of Sussex – who is thought to be 12 weeks pregnant – also sported a gold bracelet Diana wore while visiting the Lord Gage Centre for Old People, a Guinness Trust Home, in Newham, East London in 1990.
Meghan is already the owner of a few pieces which belonged to Diana – who tragically died in a car crash in Paris in 1997 at the age of 36.
On her wedding day – which took place on May 19 at St George’s Chapel at Winsor Castle – Meghan wore stunning emerald cut aquamarine ring to her evening wedding reception at Frogmore House.
Diana’s firstborn son Prince William was also left some jewellery of his mother’s, which he has given to his wife Duchess Catherine, including Diana’s iconic Sapphire engagement ring.
In a special letter written by Diana, she said: "I would like you to allocate all my jewellery to the share to be held by my sons, so that their wives may, in due course, have it or use it."
