Duchess Catherine borrows gold brooch for St Patrick’s parade

Britain’s Duchess Catherine borrowed a gold brooch from the late Queen Mother for the St Patrick’s day parade.

The 32-year-old royal was spotted wearing the stunning Cartier Irish Guards jewel, which was worn by the the Queen Mother in 2000, at the celebration in Aldershot, Hampshire, yesterday (17.03.14).

Catherine – who was known as Kate Middleton before she married William in 2011 – looked stunning dressed in an emerald long coat and matching hat, which she teamed with delicate suede shoes.

The duke and duchess of Cambridge – who have eight-month-old son Prince George together – joined the first Battalion Irish Guards for the third year running since Prince William was appointed Colonel of the regiment in 2011.

During the parade, Catherine presented officers and warrant officers with Shamrocks, the symbol of Ireland, which is a duty traditionally performed by the wife of a senior officer in the regiment.

The pair – who are known as the Baron and Baroness Carrickfergus in Ireland – also met members of the regiment after the parade and then posed for photographs, before visiting the cookhouse and stopping for a bite to eat in the Officers’ Mess.

Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time the duchess has borrowed an item of jewellery from the royal family as the brunette beauty was spotted wearing Queen Elizabeth’s diamond Cartier necklace at an engagement last month.
