Drew Barrymore fought hard for Michael Vartan casting

Drew Barrymore fought "very hard" for Michael Vartan to be cast in ‘Never Been Kissed’.
The 48-year-old actor, who played the role of Sam Coulson in the 1999 movie, was so nervous ahead of his audition for the production and couldn’t tell whether he had landed the part or not, although he had the full support of his 42-year-old co-star and producer of the romantic comedy.
Speaking to E! News about the film, the French-born star said: "I auditioned for ‘Never Been Kissed’ 16 years ago and I was as nervous as can be. It was my first, one of my first really big movie auditions and I really had no notion or thought that I was going to get the job. And Drew Barrymore, who was the star and producer of the movie, fought very hard for me and I got the job. So I’d say that’s my biggest one … it got me my foot in the door."
And the hunk believes he is "terrible" in auditions and still struggles to shake the nerves ahead of every interview he undertakes for a new project, even after almost 20 years in the entertainment industry.
The ‘Monster-in-Law’ star explained: "Every audition is terrible. It’s really nothing but self-loathing and self-doubt."
And Michael has revealed the try outs he thinks have been his "best" effort have failed to see him land a role, whilst auditions that leave him with a bad feeling after he receives a "call back" for.
He explained: "The auditions I thought I’d done the best on I never even got a call back and the auditions where I threw my sides in the trash walking out saying ‘That’s done’ you get a call back. There’s no rhyme or reason."
Meanwhile, Michael is set to star in television series ‘The Arrangement’, which will air on E! on Sunday (05.03.17) at 10pm.
