Dr Alex George bemoans public breaking social distancing rules

Dr Alex George finds it "heartbreaking" to see people breaking social distancing rules amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The former ‘Love Island’ star – who works at University Hospital Lewisham – has blasted people for ignoring the government’s health advice amid the pandemic, revealing that some of his colleagues have already died on the frontline.
Appearing on ‘Good Morning Britain’, he shared: "I think anyone who’s not concerned about catching coronavirus is not being completely open. Of course we’re concerned.
"Some of my colleagues have passed away … just because you’re young, it isn’t guaranteed that you’re going to have the mild illness.
"We’re going to lose more colleagues, which is frightening. We know we’ve got a job to do … and we’re doing our best."
Alex bemoaned the number of people who have been flouting the government’s recent instructions, especially in regards to social distancing.
He said: "It is absolutely heartbreaking seeing people not following the guidance.
"I drove past Clapham Common the other day to work and I saw people lying out and sunbathing … if they knew the risks, they wouldn’t do it."
Meanwhile, the 30-year-old doctor recently admitted his own hospital was close to running out of resources to cope with the rising number of coronavirus cases.
Speaking at the end of March, he explained: "At some points over the last few weeks we’ve had 20 or 30 patients in intensive care with coronavirus.
"There’s always a limit to how many beds we’ve got – but we’re not at that point yet and we are coping very well with the pressure.
"There’s been a few scares, but we’ve not run out of resources in our department. We are trying to make sure we’re as geared up as possible."
