Douglas Booth is too handsome

Douglas Booth is too handsome for many acting roles.

The ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’ actor admits he has been turned down for a number of parts he wanted because his good lucks have deemed him "too leading man".

He said: "[Being handsome] is the biggest reason I don’t get parts. People say, ‘He’s too leading man, too this and that.’ "

The 23-year-old star – who shot to fame when he portrayed a young Boy George in drama ‘Worried About the Boy’ – relished shedding his handsome appearance for his role in ‘The Limehouse Golem’ and found the project, in which he played a Victorian musical performer and murder suspect, "fulfilling".

He said: "That was an amazing opportunity to just lose myself.

"It was as fulfilling as playing Boy George, having the ability to transform myself."

Douglas has also worked as a Burberry model and recalled his embarrassment when he attended a star-studded Met Gala after party and got talking to acclaimed Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

He told Britain’s Grazia magazine: "Madonna had just walked in. Sarah Jessica Parker wasn’t getting in. Jay Z was waiting in the street. It was chaos.

"I pulled up with Mario Testino, Cara [Delevingne], Jourdan Dunn. Mario just pulled me in.

"I was waiting in the porch for Cara and Jourdan and Anna Wintour was also standing there.

"I said, ‘Whose party is this?’ It was hers, but she took it quite well."
