Dominic Monaghan’s killer research for Pet stalker role

Dominic Monaghan studied serial killers to prepare for his role as a stalker in his new film ‘Pet’.
The 40-year-old British actor portrays Animal Control worker Seth who is obsessed with a waitress called Holly (Ksenia Solo) in the psychological horror and he re-visited texts about killers like Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer to prepare for the part.
In an interview with the Metro newspaper, he said: "Without wanting to sound too creepy, I am interested in serial killers. In my teens I started reading about Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer and people. So I re-read a few books and isolated myself – I made sure I wasn’t really seeing friends. Then, once we started filming, I said to Ksenia Solo, who plays Holly, the girl my character Seth is obsessed with, that if she wanted to hang out I would do. I only surrounded myself with her and that created that obsessive thing Seth has going on."
Monaghan has portrayed a diverse array of characters but he is most famous for playing hobbit Merry in ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy and Charlie in mysterious TV series ‘Lost’, however, he is recognised more for his turn in the fantasy film franchise than anything else.
When asked what role garners him the most attention, he shared: "Probably ‘The Lord of the Rings’. ‘Lost’ comes and goes. It depends where I am. In places like South America and Spain, ‘Lost’ was a smash hit on TV. Afterwards I did this nature show, ‘Wild Things’. In places like Australia, New Zealand, France and Germany the show seemed to be a big thing."
And Monaghan has teamed up with one of his fellow film co-stars for a new project.
He explained: "Billy Boyd, who was in ‘The Lord of the Rings’, and I are selling a show about travel, history and the economics of food. We’re fascinated by the planet and we both like to travel so much. We were inspired by ‘The Trip’ Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon are big heroes of ours.
‘Pet’ is out on Monday (06.03.17) on digital download and on Blu-ray & DVD on March 13.
