Dolly Parton hopes to collaborate with Sabrina Carpenter again

Dolly Parton would love to perform with Sabrina Carpenter again.

The country music legend teamed up with the ‘Espresso’ singer for a new duet of the latter’s hit ‘Please Please Please’ earlier this year and is keen to collaborate with the pop star again after they formed an immediate bond.

Speaking to E! News, Dolly said: “Well, you know what? She is just the cutest little thing ever. And when we got together, we just realised we felt like that we were family, and we looked like we were from the same family. And we both have similar tastes in a lot of things.

“It was fun, it was great. And I’d like to do something else with her.”

The ‘Jolene’ hitmaker is proud to be regarded as an influence by younger performers like Sabrina and Miley Cyrus.

She said: “I was just surviving at the time and doing what I felt was right for me. And it is humbling and it’s sweet and just allowing me to come and do things like this.

“Like with Sabrina and Miley Cyrus, who I adore and love and to have some of these young people, you know, say that I’ve meant something to them means something to me.”

Meanwhile, Dolly revealed last year how she was warned that her “cheap” look would stop her from being taken seriously as a singer.

The 79-year-old artist said: “In my early days, so many people said, ‘Dolly nobody’s ever going to take you seriously as a songwriter, the way you dress, you need to tame it down. You don’t need all the make-up, it makes you look cheap. You don’t need all that hair’.

“But I said, ‘Well, if my songs are good enough, eventually people will hear my songs. In the meantime, I have to have fun for me.

“I’m going to write good songs, I’m going to sing good songs, I’m going to perform and I’m going to be me’.

“I’ve spent my whole life being me and it’s done me proud so far.”
