Doctor Who set for huge New Year’s cliffhanger

‘Doctor Who’ boss Chris Chibnall has teased a huge cliffhanger for New Year’s Day.
The showrunner has opened up about what fans can expect when Jodie Whittaker returns at the Time Lord on January 1 in the first of an epic two parter, and he admitted he always used to love it when the show left viewers wanting more.
He told Doctor Who Magazine: "As a kid growing up in the 1970s, part of what got me addicted to ‘Doctor Who’ was the cliffhangers.
"They were essential to the DNA of the show… That’s not the case in the same way in the modern show.
"So when you do get the chance to do a cliffhanger now, it’s really exciting."
Tosin Cole – who plays Ryan Sinclair in the show – agreed with the sentiment, and promised fans a "popcorn" moment.
He said: "The way the first episode ends, it’s like, ‘WOAH!’ What a way to start off a series!
"I think it’s really going to get everyone excited to see what happens. So get comfortable. Grab the popcorn. It’s about… to go… down."
In another interesting move, producers have decided to bring back the pre-credits scene after initially axing it for Jodie’s first series.
Chris recently explained: "It’s back – episode one. There were just some episodes this year where I thought ‘Oh, that’ll be a great cold open.
"You won’t necessarily get the ‘scream’ of the opening theme, because the score will go into the titles and stuff like that. But yes [they’re back]!.
"It wasn’t an absolute, hard and fast rule [last year] – I just think what you always want to do is, particularly now it’s series 12 of the revived series, you just want to be doing different things all the time, really.
"So some have a cold open, some don’t. I think the danger is, if you shape everything towards it all the time then your shapes will become predictable."
