Doctor Who cast terrified by show’s new monsters

The Doctor Who cast were left terrified by the monsters in the new series.
Jodie Whittaker is back as the titular doctor for a second season – the show’s 12th overall – and she has promised that the introduction of new monsters in episode three, titled ‘Orphan 55’, will leave viewers "bricking it" like she was during filming.
Jodie said: "I was actually really scared when I saw one of them – I bricked it, I proper bricked it! In rehearsal, he’s like six foot seven, in a suit and he’s running at you down a corridor and I was screaming."
Jodie’s co-stars Tosin Cole and Bradley Walsh, who play the Doctor’s companions Ryan and Graham, also found the new monsters particularly scary.
Tosin said: "There’s a monster that shall not be named, you’re going to see my reaction, it breaks through the wall and you’re going to see me jump and that jump is the most honest jump. I was actually scared – I knew it was going to happen but when it happened I didn’t know it was going to happen like that. I was genuinely scared. I think I had to change my pants that day!"
Bradley added: "There is a moment in episode three that is absolutely… now, I don’t scare easy and it made me proper, proper jump."
Showrunner Chris Chibnall agrees that the monsters are among the most terrifying ever seen on ‘Doctor Who’.
He explained: "Ed Hime has written episode three, which is called ‘Orphan 55’ and there are some monsters in that that are terrifying! They were there on-set, they’re practical monsters."
Doctor Who will return to BBC One on New Year’s Day (01.01.20) at 6:55pm.
