Doctor Who bosses confirm Daleks return for festive special

‘Doctor Who’ bosses have confirmed the Daleks will return for a Christmas special.
The BBC sci-fi show will be back for a "one-off extended" festive episode called ‘Revolution of the Daleks’, and showrunner Chris Chibnall revealed the exciting news after the climactic series 12 finale on Sunday (01.03.20).
He said: "We can’t leave the Doctor there! On that cliffhanger! Well, we did. But rest assured, the Doctor and her friends will be back for a one-off extended Special around Christmas and New Year.
"I don’t know when they’re going to put it on yet, otherwise we’d tell you!
"There will be Daleks. There will be exterminations. Thrills, laughter, tears. You know. The usual. See you at the end of the year."
Charlotte Moore, BBC’s director of content, echoed the sentiment and teased the return of one of the Doctor’s most feared mutants.
She added: "I can’t wait for the Doctor to go into battle with the ultimate enemy in this year’s Daleks festive special."
The announcement comes after Piers Wenger – BBC’s drama controller – confirmed he has no plans of giving ‘Doctor Who’ a break.
He recently said: "It will always be an important show for us and we’re a very long way from wanting to rest it."
Jodie Whittaker – who plays the titular Time Lord – previously said she isn’t leaving the TARDIS any time soon.
She admitted: "I’m doing another season. That might be a massive exclusive that I’m not supposed to say, but it’s unhelpful for me to say [I don’t know] because it would be a massive lie!
"I absolutely adore it. At some point, these shoes are going to be handed on, but it’s not yet. I’m clinging on tight!"
